Code of conduct Tribunal cancels Saraki's application for 1 week adjournment

On Tuesday, the Code of Conduct Tribunal and Bureau Act dismissed an application from Dr Bukola Saraki seeking to be given a 1 week adjournment in order for him to study the prosecution document tendered against him. Reports from Premium Times has it that Mr Umar Danladi, the Chairman of the tribunal, ruled that the application did not meet with the requirements of section 396 (3) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015. He further stated that the tribunal has been trying for the defense team and has given him more than five adjournment in the on going case. Dr Saraki is facing trial on a 13 count charge on false asset declaration and money laundering. According to Mr Danladi's ruling, Dr Saraki's trial continues daily in line with the provisions of law. The tribunal adjourned the case to 20th April for cross examination.
