Civil Society Organizations kick against Nigerian senate for plotting to amend code of conduct tribunal and bureau act

A total of 28 civil society organizations in Nigeria, have on Monday during a press conference in Abuja  kicked against the Senates' attempt to amend the Code of Conduct Tribunal and Bureau Act. According to Premium Times, the civil societies have said the senates' main in amending the CCT is to aid the senate president Dr Bukola Saraki, who is currently facing trial with the Code of Conduct Tribunal and Bureau Act for and false assets declaration and corruption get away with justice. Mr Kolawole Banwo, the Senior Programme Officer of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center while speaking on behalf of the civil societies organizations, said that events surrounding Dr Saraki's trial and subsequent negative results springing up here and there against him are enough reasons for him to step down rather than 'sit tight' and 'attempt to frustrate his trial'. The organizations said and i quote " It is clear that these underhand moves in the Senate are aimed at whittling down the powers of the agencies with a view to helping the senate president escape justice"
