President Muhammadu Buhari had a meeting with the National Assembly leaders over the issue bordering on the 2016 budget. The meeting was held on Tuesday night in the presidential villa, Abuja. President Buhari refused signing the 2016 budget and claimed that it was distorted by the National Assembly. The meeting was held so that a common ground surrounding the 2016 budget would be found. According to Premium Times, Dr Bukola Saraki while speaking to the State House Correspondents, stated that the essence of the meeting was for them to find the way forward in making sure that the 2016 budget is passed and that they are happy to have found a way to resolve the issues bordering on the budget. He further said that a committee made up of members from the presidency and the National Assembly has been set up to work on resolving the 2016 budget issues and in a matter of days the budget would be ready so that President Buhari can append his signature.
