Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has described the postponement of the Edo State Governorship election by the Independent Electoral Commission as a dangerous signal for the nation's democracy. This statement was released on Thursday by his Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, accused the APC of planning the postponement of the election. He said and i quote "I warned Nigerians not to elect President Buhari because he lacks the mental, moral and intellectual capacities to superintend any civilized society. We are all seeing the results. Our economy is in recession and democracy is also in recession." According to PUNCH news, Governor Fayose said INEC knew that the election would not hold on Saturday as scheduled but decided to deceive Nigerians. He further said that the postponement of the election was a sad commentary on the country's democracy, warning that the nation's democracy is on the verge of collapse.
