Globacom lays off 54 engineers

On Friday, 15th of July, the Nigeria indigenous telecommunication company, Globacom laid off 54 of its engineers across the country. Saturday PUNCH has it that no official reason was given for the laying off, rather, the affected engineers got notification from the management informing them that their services were no longer needed. The affected engineers were mandated to submit their tools of work: ID cards and SIM cards without delay. The official letter sent to the affected workers goes thus: "This serves to inform you that your services are no longer required by Globacom Limited. "Consequently, you are advised to report to Human Resources Manager, Globacom Manpower Services Limited, the outsourcing company,  with immediate effect. " You are also expected to hand over all company property ( including SIM card, company ID etc) issued to you during the course of your services with us. "We wish you all the best in your future endeavours."
