The Area C Police Command of Lagos State has arrested a 38 year old trader, Mrs.Caroline Akanwa for allegedly battering her niece, Chioma Uneneme. Reports from Punch Metro, had it that Mrs Akanwa brought her niece, Chioma, a 10 year old from Okofia in Anambra State since 2015 to Iponri Police Station where she lives with her husband and two children. Punch correspondent reported that Akanwa had always flogged Chioma for every offence until her back was marred with sores. On a particular occasion, Chioma was said to have sold a N1000 recharge card to a customer at the rate of N970, her reason being that the customer did not have a complete money. Mrs Akanwa got arrested by the police when the victim's school teacher at St Paul primary school, Iponri took her to a hospital for treatment. The hospital management insisted on a police report before proceeding with her treatment.
