European Union referendum: UK votes today

Today, Thursday is seen as a historical one as United Kingdom Citizens go to polling stations to express their opinions on whether the UK should remain a member of the European Union or not. This came up after four months of deliberations whether the UK should pull out of the European Union or still be a member. A record from the Electoral Commission showed that a total of 46,499,537 people would be participating in the voting process. According to BBC, polling stations were opened at 07:00 BST and will be closed at 22:00 BST. Results would be collated and announced in the evening after voting must have ended. This is the third nationwide referendum in the history of the UK. The question on the referendum ballot paper goes thus: "Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?"
