NLC- Why we walked out on government

The last meeting held between the federal government and the labour congress on Tuesday night in order to shelve the proposed nationwide strike over the fuel price increase was a flop as the NLC representatives walked out on the government. According to Premium Times, the NLC said the meeting was not successful because the government refused to bend to their demands which are reversal of the fuel price hike and increase in electricity tariffs. The NLC Secretary General, Peter Ozo-Eson said the meeting could not continue as the government was not ready to bend to their demands. Mr Ozo-Eson stated that earlier on Saturday, NLC and its affiliates formally wrote to the government demanding for the reversal of  the fuel price to N86.50 per litre but the government was not ready to yield to their demands.
