Nigerian Army- Reasons for killing protesting MASSOB and IPOB members

The Deputy Director Army Public Relations in Enugu gave reasons for the killing of about 5 protesting members of the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra and Indigenous People of Biafra on Monday. He said the army killed 5 protesting MASSOB and IPOB members because its men and other security agencies were defending themselves as well as lives and properties of the peace loving citizens of the country. According to Premium Times, the Deputy director said the protesting members who gathered at a school on Atta road near Saint Edmund's Catholic Parish Maryland in Nkpor-Agu in Anambra State, resorted to the use of fierce attack on the security personnel by using various types of fire arms, all sorts of crude weapons, acid and dynamites. He further said that many troops sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatments at their own hospital. He also said that 5 members of the protesting MASSOB and IPOB members were killed, while 8 were wounded and 9 arrested.
