President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday associated corruption in the Nigerian military as the main reason for its inability to defeat the dreaded Boko Haram sect. According to Punch report, the President disclosed this while having a discussion with the Grand Imam of Al -Azhar, Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb at the presidential Villa in Abuja. President Buhari lamented how the loss of 14 local government areas to the terrorist group had tainted the image of Nigerian Armed forces. However, Buhari noted that with steps taken by his administration to tackle corruption and provision of better weapons, logistics, and training, the Nigerian army had recovered the lost territories and had almost defeated the terrorist group.
