The court's vacation which commenced today, Monday, has delayed the trial of the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, his deputy Ike Ekeweremadu and alongside the two others accused of forgery before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, Abuja. According to the PUNCH, Saraki, Ekweremadu, a former clerk to the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasu, and his then deputy, Benedict Efeturi, were present in court briefly but left immediately they learnt the court would not be sitting. Also, report from The PUNCH has it that a four-man team led by a former Attorney General and Kano State Commissioner of Justice, Aliyu Umar (SAN) has today being Monday, taken over the prosecution of the case from the Director Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mr Mohammed Diri. The Umar led team was in court to get a new date for commencement of the trial and the trial was adjourned till the 28 of September, 2016.
