Ikpeazu- No grazing land in Abia State

The Abia State Governor, Mr Okezie Ikpeazu has repeated his stand by saying that there is no land for grazing of cattle in the state. According to Punch the governor made this statement following the alarm raised by residents of Akanukwu  in Ohafia Local Government Area of the state saying that the Brigade Commander of Ohafia Army barracks has given out their lands to the herdsmen. Mr Ikpeazu also made it clear that the entire South-East zone had  less land mass than some states in the North, saying that grazing reserves should be done only in the North. Here are his words and i quote " Our position is that the entire landmass of all the states in the South-East is less than the landmass of one state in the North," he said. There is no grazing land in the South East. We are looking for land, we don't have enough. Again, God put a lot of minerals beneath our soil. Nobody should graze on them." Ikpeazu then cautioned Abia residents against entering into any agreement with herdsmen for personal interests that could be dangerous to the communities in the state
