Fuel scarcity continues in Abuja, Lagos and others

There is still  fuel scarcity as many motorists were seen on a long queue at the various filling stations  across the country on Sunday. This is contrary to what Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr Ibe Kachikwu told the populace, that by Thursday last week there would be fuel in Abuja and Lagos, and that by weekend, other cities in the country would have fuel. On Sunday, few filling stations with fuel such as, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation mega stations with out lets in Abuja and Lagos sold at the approved prices of  N86, and N86.50 per litre while those ones outside the major cities  and other states like Osun, Ogun, Oyo and Kwara sold a litre between N180 to N220. Though some oil marketers still have high hopes that the queues seen in our filling stations would soon disappear this week and would be a thing of the past as there are plans to bring in additional product into the country. An oil marketer with Nipco Plc who responded to Punch correspondent on condition of anonymity, said " I cant say the queues will clear completely this week, but there is hope that it will reduce considering the serious collaboration among stakeholders to this situation. "We are expecting additional product and the clearance procedures of vessels is being fastened so product can be distributed to help reduce the scarcity. So, we hope the situation will improve this week."
