Eight power plants down, power generation nil
A total of eight of the nations power generating plants did not work as at yesterday Thursday. Most of the plants did not work due to gas unavailability, while some were shut down because of maintenance and servicing, the affected plants were Egbin in Lagos State, Sapele in Delta State, Olorunsogo II in Ogun State, Rivers IPP & Trans-Amadi in Rivers State, Geregu I in Kogi State and Afam IV & V in Rivers State and A.E.S and Asco. This drop in power generation worsened the already erratic power supply in the country as electricity distribution companies started rationing supply to consumers. On Thursday at about 12:58pm, there was no power generation and this put the nation in total blackout for about 3 hours as a result of the plants inability to produce a single megawatt of electricity. Punch correspondent reported that electricity supply was restored as at 3 pm on Tursday
