MTN agrees to pay $250 million fine

A statement from Johannesburg based MTN claims that today, MTN Nigeria has paid the sum of N50 billion ($250 million) as a fine to the Nigerian government. And moreso that the telecom company has agreed to withdraw its legal challenge over the big fine of $3.9bn levied against the company sometime in October, 2015 by the Nigerian government for its failure to disconnect about 5.1 million unregistered subscribers on the network.
