Wike is restored as Rivers State



The Supreme court in Abuja had on Wednesday restored Nyesom Wike, of the Peoples Democractic Party as the Governor of Rivers State. The Appeal court on the 24th October, 2015, nullified the election and ordered for a rerun. A seven man panel headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed said after going through the the records of Court of Appeal, the reports of counsels to the parties involved in the case, and the Rivers Sate Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, and found Wike's appeal of being worthy and allowed it. Justice M.O Kekere- Ekun while delivering the lead judgement, ordered the restoration of Wike as Rivers State Governor. She and other panel members said there reasons for Wike's restoration would be made known on the 12 February, 2016.
