Rep faults the killing of Nigerians

Hon Rita Orji, the Chairman House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun constituency has described the killings of Nigerians abroad as unacceptable. This was made known when the news of the death of a Nigerian, My Timorthy Chinedu was reported. The deceased was said to have been arrested by the South African police at kempton Park. The report has it that the South African police having arrested him, tied his hands, covered his face with a cellophane bag and suffocated him. But the South African police is claiming that the deceased died as a result of drugs that he ingested. A Nigerian eyewitness maintained that the deceased was suffocated by the police. At the moment an autopsy is being carried out so as to ascertain the cause of the deceased's death. The rep has written to the Nigerian Consul General to South Africa, Uche Ajulu-Okeke to act fast and present a report to the federal government on this issue. She further reminds the South African government that the onus lie on them as provided in the international law to protect foreigners in their land  and to equally ensure that their human rights are not being trampled upon. This is stipulated in articles 5-10 of the declaration of human rights individuals who are not Nationals of the Country in which they live in.
