A Canadian pilot passes away after fallen into a snow crack

David Wood, a 62 year old Canadian helicopter pilot fell into an icy crevasse near Australia's Davis base in Antarctica on Monday during a routine fuel drop. He was flown to the research station for treatment after rescue ,but died the following day due to sustained injuries. Mr. Nick Gales, the director of Australian Antarctic Division, where Wood was working before his death, said that he had more than 30 years flying experience both in Antarctic and Arctic, and that preparation is earnest to return his body to Australia.
