Nnamdi Kanu sues FG and claims N240m

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), sued the Federal Government of Nigeria to the ECOWAS court for the breach of his fundamental human rights and is claiming the sum of $800,000 (N240m) as a compensation for his continued detention. Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu's counsel, filed the suit in an Abuja court on Thursday with no ECW/CCJ/{PP/06/16 and its copy was sent to SUNDAY PUNCH. According to the counsel, the continued detention of his client after he has been granted bails severally violates the African Charter on Human and People's Rights, International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Covenant of the League of Nations and Resolution 2625 (XXX) of the United Nations Charter of 1970.
